Hoping for Spring

Here is my wish for Spring to come, LOL.  I have had it with the rain.  I'm ready to see the sun.  This morning, I looked up and saw some orange coming through the window.  I thought there was something wrong.  (it was raining, of course).  It turned out to be the sun coming up, peaking through the clouds, LOL.  It's gone now, but I made this card to remind me that it will be back!  :)
I borrowed this design from Heather Heroldt.  I used the Mixed Bunch stamp set for the flowers and punched them out with the new Blossom Punch.  The leaves are made of Lucky Limeade, punched using the 5-Petal Flower Punch.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, using the Word Window Punch and Modern Label Punch, popped up on dimensionals.  I used Poppy Parade and Peach Parfait Ink, stamped off once for the lighter shaded flower.  I love this Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper and Brads...so pretty and bright.  Well, our daffodils are blooming, so I know Spring is on it's way, I just wish it would hurry up!  :)

Here I switched the colors around a bit, using Poppy Parade for the main flower, then stamping off once for the one underneath.  The top flower on both cards is popped up on dimensionals.

I hope you're all having a great week.  We're all back to school and work here after a lovely relaxing Spring Break.  We actually got two days of sun during our break and put them to good use, too!  I feel refreshed and ready to go again.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I love St. Patrick's Day.  I'm half Irish, so I suppose that is partially why.  I also enjoy decorating with 'the green!'  Here is my St. Patrick's Day card for this year.  I borrowed the design from Fixnthings on SplitCoastStampers.
I used that pretty Pleated Ribbon in Pear Pizzazz, embossed the Happy St. Patrick's greeting with Wild Wasabi Embossing Powder and used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder on the Whisper White background paper.  The main layer is Pocketful of Posies DSP and I added a Filigree Brad because I thought it had an Irish look about it.  I also used Old Olive cardstock paper as the base card layer.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone and don't forget to wear green!

Concord Crush Blossom Flower

I love this color!  I admit, I thought it was too dark at first, but now I really love it.  I used my new Blossom Flower Punch to create this card along with the Mixed Bunch stamp set.  I think it gives it almost a Dutch Delft look to it.
I was really surprised at how bright the Whisper White Craft Ink came out on the dark purple cardstock.  Craft Ink holds it's true color, but it takes a while to dry completely, so don't touch it right away.  This design was borrowed from Lauri Ingram.  I used the Concord Crush Stitched Poly Ribbon and a dimensional to pop-up the center of the flower (cut out with the 3/4" Circle Punch).  The sentiment is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set.

Just a note, Concord Crush will be retiring in a few months when the new catalog comes out, so if you love it, be sure to get some before then!

New Product! Simply Scored Diagonal Plate

Now we have a way to score paper diagonally.  This offers many new possibilities for crafting, including making envelopes to fit any size card.  This flat hard plastic plate fits right into your Simply Scored base.  Easy and fun!
You can even line your envelope with a small square sheet of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) that you used on your card.  Simply cut out a square, use your Simply Scored to fold it (point to point), insert it into your envelope on the diagonal and adhere it with a bit of adhesive.  Very professional looking.

Happy Chinese New Year!

This is a card I made especially for a favorite aunt who celebrates Chinese New Year.  Yes, I know these are little Japanese gals, but I thought it was festive and fun and I really love this stamp set, even though it is retired now.
I used colored pencils to color my cute little gals, I borrowed the color combination from sleepyinseattle on SplitCoastStampers.  I used a base of Daffodil Delight layered with Poppy Parade.  I love coloring with pencils.

This stamp set is called Kimono Kids.

Sweet Pressed Cookies!

These are my Valentine cookies.  Sorry they are late in being posted, but I had to show you how cute they turned out.  And they were delicious, too!  I used the shortbread recipe in the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps box and my whole family was surprised at how good they tasted.  We shared these at my daughter's Valentine's party at her American Heritage Girl's meeting.  They were a hit!
I just got the new 'Occasions' set for Spring, they include Easter (a bunny), Spring (a flower), and St. Patrick's Day (a clover).  This 'Holidays' set that I used here included the Valentine's heart, a snowflake for winter and an adorable pumpkin for Halloween.

Making these was easier than I thought it would be.  I formed a largish ball of dough, then just pressed down with the cookie press.  The large wooden handle made it very easy.  Then I added some colored sugar crystals just for fun.  I've seen the pumpkins done in orange sugar and they look so cute.

I see it's almost time for me to make my St. Patrick's Day cookies...I'd better look for some green sprinkles!

Everyday Enchantment

Here's a card I made using the free (with purchase during Sale-a-Bration) Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I love the colors of Spring!

I used the swirly Elegant Lines Embossing Folder on the Poppy Parade paper and gathered the Pool Party Seam Binding ribbon by pulling a thread at one end to give it a softer look.  I sponged the edges of the paper with Soft Suede to give a shabby chic look.  I used Stampin' Markers to color the image, also from a stamp set that can be earned for free during Sale-a-Bration, the Fresh Vintage set.

Sale-a-Bration is here!!

Today is finally the day!  Sale-a-Bration has started at Stampin' Up.  Choose a Free Product from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog for every $50 you spend!

Valentine's Countdown

Valentine's Day is on it's way!  Here are a few cards I've received in swaps to get me in the mood.
This adorable Valentine was sent to me by Nicki Shopis.  She used The Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder for the Vanilla background and Perfect Polka Dots for the heart.  The tiny Blushing Bride flower is punched from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with a little pearl dotting the center.  So romantic and sweet.
I love this stamp set, Greeting Card Kids and hope to get it soon!  Kate Amberg used Cherry Cobbler to make this simple Valentine.  The Seam Binding gives it a soft look and I like the way she used a marker to draw our attention to the little girl's heart.
This card was one of my favorites.  It uses a pop can for the background!  It's embossed with the Square Lattice folder and is attached with Silver Brads.  A heart punched out of Red Glimmer paper is popped up with dimensionals on the sentiment.  I thought this would make a nice masculine Valentine, since it's not too girlish.

I hope you're enjoying this winter weather.  I'm glad we're finally getting winter, but I'm not sure how long I'd like it to last, LOL.

New Occasions Mini Catalog comes out today!

The new Occasions Mini Catalog comes out today!
Click to view the new Mini Catalog!

There are lots of beautiful new products to choose from, including new Framelit dies in two sets of shapes, as well as a set of three Embossing Folders to match two new Edgelit Dies.  These make gorgeous cards.  Here's a sample of a card that uses both the new Edgelit die and Embossing Folder.
I love the new "Twitterpated" DSP used on this card, too.  You can also see one of the new Framelit shapes on this card.  It matches the new Apothecary Art stamp set.  The bigger pearls are new, too!

Happy New Year!

Here is my New Year's card.
And here it is with the flap opened...
This card was so much fun to make and pretty simple, too.  I borrowed the idea from a fellow stamper, Lorraine Ogletree .  Thanks for the inspiration!  I used the Elegant Lines embossing folder for her skirt and a diamond brad on the red satin bow.  The skirt design uses the round scallop die.  I used my new Peekaboo die for the sentiment, adding the New Year's greeting on the inside.  Isn't that Silver paper pretty?  It's the first time I've ever used it and I like it.

I hope 2012 is a great year for all of us!  Happy New Year!
